Every AI tool in Broward is meant to be inspectable, explainable, and able to be overridden by an educator.

The Artificial Intelligence Leadership Framework
Broward's own AILF replaces the generic industry principles previously shown here. It is a district-wide guide for leaders to use AI responsibly, ethically, and strategically, grounded in the Florida Educational Leadership Standards (FELS 1 through 8) and aligned with the district's Strategic Plan.
"Leading ethical, strategic AI integration to advance student success and excellence." The AILF is not a mandate to use AI tools, nor does it replace district policy, professional judgment, or evaluation frameworks. It outlines effective leadership practices for using AI purposefully to support teaching, learning, and organizational effectiveness.

Our Commitment
Broward County Public Schools is committed to a districtwide approach to Artificial Intelligence built on transparency, trust, education, engagement, and accountability. Student privacy, safety, transparency, and accountability remain district priorities. Teachers remain central to learning. Technology will support teaching and learning, not replace the relationships that make learning meaningful. Student-facing Artificial Intelligence tools used through the district must be teacher directed, teacher monitored, and connected to a clear instructional purpose. Our guiding principle is Human Intelligence First, Artificial Intelligence Second.
Our message to families
At Broward County Public Schools, teachers lead learning and play a central role in student development. The district is committed to using Artificial Intelligence thoughtfully, transparently, and responsibly. Our goal is to prepare students for the future while protecting safety, privacy, human relationships, and meaningful learning experiences. We understand that families have questions and concerns, and that input is welcome. The district’s responsibility is to listen, explain, monitor, and adjust as policy and practice develop. Technology will support learning, not replace it. As School Board policies are updated and technology continues to evolve, this guide will be revised to stay current and relevant.

- MagicStudent, the student-facing part of MagicSchool, is not currently available for Broward County Public Schools students. Teachers are completing training before any student-facing use may be considered.
- Approved district tools are different from open public tools such as ChatGPT or Google Artificial Intelligence features. Open public tools are not approved by the district for student-facing instructional use. Because students may still encounter public tools outside district-controlled settings, families should talk with their children about safe and responsible use.

Microsoft Challenge & partnership
Microsoft will provide $4,000 to one school per region per month for the most innovative and impactful use of Copilot AI, plus a $10,000 award at the end of the year to one school districtwide. Principals have been presented with the plan and a dashboard to track Copilot AI usage; an application will be released to schools so they can apply for the award before the school year opens.

Khan Academy / Khanmigo
Khan Academy and its AI tutor, Khanmigo, are listed among BCPS's approved AI partners.
Educator training video
This training video is also housed inside Khan Academy under Khan for Educators, alongside additional asynchronous professional learning videos that break the platform down into best practices. Any stakeholder is welcome to check out any part of that course, whether or not they have a Khan Academy account (khanacademy.org → Explore → Khan for Educators). Students and teachers do not access these videos on YouTube; inside the platform, the videos are housed internally.

RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF BROWARD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS ADVANCING EDUCATION POWERED BY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)
March 10, 2026 · No. 26-132
WHEREAS, The School Board of Broward County, Florida (SBBC) recognizes the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance teaching, learning, and operational efficiency across the district; and
WHEREAS, SBBC is committed to leveraging AI to personalize instruction, streamline educational practices, and prepare students for the demands of a technology-driven world, while safeguarding privacy, closing the digital divide, promoting digital citizenship, and expanding opportunities for critical thinking and innovation; and
WHEREAS, SBBC has established the AI Task Force and partnered with Microsoft to implement AI tools districtwide, including the largest K-12 deployment of Microsoft Copilot in the world, setting a new global standard for AI integration in public education; and
WHEREAS, SBBC will provide universal access to AI tools and resources for all students, regardless of background or ability, and ongoing professional learning for educators, staff, and administrators to build AI literacy; and
WHEREAS, SBBC is committed to ensuring that AI technologies are implemented with appropriate human oversight and in accordance with ethical guidelines to safeguard against plagiarism, bias, and misuse of AI in academic work, and to protect students' and educators' data privacy; and
WHEREAS, SBBC believes that AI should be leveraged to enrich instruction and support student learning, not to replace or diminish the expertise of education professionals; and
WHEREAS, SBBC has established an AI Liaison Cohort to serve as school-based leaders to support staff and administrators with integrating AI tools and practices responsibly into teaching, learning, and operations district-wide, while guiding students to use AI safely and effectively to enhance their learning; and
WHEREAS, SBBC is dedicated to regularly evaluating the ethical use and implementation of AI technologies, with educators and community stakeholders at the decision-making table.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that The School Board of Broward County, Florida, hereby declares the foregoing principles and actions in alignment with Florida Standards and Broward County Public Schools' (BCPS) Strategic Plan for High-Quality Instruction and College, Career, and Life Readiness for the ethical and effective implementation of AI in BCPS.

How AI supports learning by content area
Leading with the strongest evidence. AI is a force multiplier for practice, feedback, and access. It does not replace teachers, and it does not match one-to-one human tutoring.
Special Education (ESE)
Text-to-speech and other supports remove barriers, aligned with Universal Design for Learning. This is the strongest-evidence area.
Mathematics
Adaptive practice gives students targeted problems and feedback, with the teacher guiding instruction.
Literacy
AI reading tutors give real-time feedback that multiplies guided oral-reading practice.
English Learners (ESOL)
Speech-feedback tools support private pronunciation practice. Translation helps, with accuracy limits noted.

A structured, districtwide leadership program, not just a directory. AI Liaisons and AI Student Leaders work together at each school to build responsible AI use, student voice, and digital citizenship.

Program structure and timeline
School-based engagement
Roughly one meeting per month with a school-based facilitator, during or after school. Schools may fold this into leadership, media, innovation, or advisory structures.
District-level engagement
Students may be invited periodically, not routinely, to student-voice conversations, innovation showcases, and feedback sessions tied to district initiatives.
Time commitment
Designed to be manageable and inclusive. No weekly requirement. Students typically serve one school year, with flexibility to rotate.
Student selection guidance
Selection is about curiosity and digital citizenship, not credentials.

AI Liaison training, 2025-2026
Program-wide training completed by AI Liaisons across the district, as reported to the School Board.
AI Liaisons completed a structured training series from August 2025 through May 2026, progressing through Microsoft Copilot, MagicSchool AI, Promethean, Adobe, and NCCE Copilot Agent sessions, complemented by district-wide Hot Lab sessions and department- and region-specific trainings for Elementary, Secondary, BTU, CTACE/PMO, ESE, and ESOL teams. Asynchronous training options remain available through summer 2026.

Parent AI Symposium 2026
Broward Powered by AI is built with families, not just for them. On June 5, 2026, the District brought parents, students, educators, and school leaders together to learn how AI is shaping education and how Broward is using it responsibly.
Hosted at Nova High School in Davie, the Parent AI Symposium was an in-person event designed to help families understand how artificial intelligence is transforming the classroom and how to support their students in an increasingly technology-driven world. Attendees explored both the benefits and the concerns around AI, with a main session focused on what families need to know.
A highlight of the day was students themselves demonstrating how they use AI in their learning, alongside district leaders answering questions directly from parents.

Artificial intelligence for a district or school leader is best framed not just as a classroom tool, but as a system-level capability that affects instruction, operations, equity, and community trust.
